In principle, only 'real countries' are listed below. However, we have also included a few areas because they are so well known as more or less independent units that people might search for that keyword in the lists.
Such areas can be recognized by the fact that they are between square brackets in the menus, for example [Siberia].

Whether or not to include an area in enumerations is arbitrary: why include Siberia and not Tierra del Fuego?
